Graduate Employability

Information from the University of Hull.

The Graduate Recruitment Fair

The fair is to be held on 25th October and attracts hundreds of students. Typically large employers exhibit on campus (we usually book University Staff House) and it provides a great opportunity for students and graduates to network with employers; many of which are looking to recruit. We charge large employers £250-£275.

This year, we are looking to attract more SMEs to the fair and are looking to offer free exhibitor space to employers with less than 10 employees (more than 10 we will charge £50).

The Fair is an excellent way for companies to both promote their brand/products whilst also raising their profile. Most importantly,  it  often allows employers to build up a network of potential talent, for the future.

At this stage, we are looking for expressions of interest from SMEs. If interest is high we will follow up those employers with further details of the day, including, how to book, travel instructions, and so on.

If you are interested in getting involved, or if you require further information, please contact Gill Kilvington via email

The Hull Internship Programme

The Careers Service will soon be launching an internship programme which aims to encourage more employers to recruit Hull students and graduates. Internships typically last for 8,10 or 12 weeks and attract some funding to subsidise the intern’s wage.

The Benefits to your Business:

  • Financial support available (typical amount £1200) for an 8 or 12 week internship;
  • Internships are a proven, flexible and cost-effective way for businesses to inject fresh talent into the workplace;
  • Get short-term help from a talented student or graduate to focus on a particular project or to take on specific responsibilities;
  • Receive advice and support recruiting and advertising your internship.

Further Information:

Your company will pay at least the national minimum wage and the University will provide a subsidy to reduce this cost significantly.
