Achievements
Hull Business Forum was the first of its kind in the country and is unique in the way that it involves businesses in local issues.
A few of our key achievements are as follows…
- Shaped Hull’s new Community Strategy in 2005 with strong business input leading to agreed city priorities of economy, education/skills and quality of life.
- Provided unparalleled business involvement in an LSP by electing business people to 36 positions on the Forum’s Steering Group, LSP Board and themed sub-boards in 2004.
- Led Hull’s bid to be the UK’s Capital of Enterprise in 2004 and was a key partner in Local Enterprise Growth Initiative bid for Hull in 2005.
- Promoted an enterprise culture in Hull by supporting youth enterprise activities and particularly Young Enterprise.
- Supported Hull’s lobby for new transport investment particularly the A63 Castle Street.
In addition, the Forum has been actively representing local business opinion on a range of issues including a ‘buy local’ approach to public procurement, more business friendly planning regime, Hull City Council’s recovery and improvement processes, mitigating measures during the 2005 closure of North Bridge and getting businesses involved in the Wilberforce 2007 commemorations.
