The ONE HULL Business Forum is looking for your ideas and comments as it develops its programme of events for 2010.

The Forum holds 4 Quarterly Forums a year which are oppourtunities for Members to hear from leading local and regional figures in Hull's regeneration. Over the past 2 years the Forum has heard from a variety of people on a wide range of issues which are summarised below.

What are the key issues facing your business at the moment? How can Hull create more businesses, get more people into work and reduce long term unemployment? How can Hull's leaders make the city a better place to live, work and visit?

Nigel Richardson, Hull City Council, on the Diploma and the work being done to drive forward improvements in Hull's schools.

Stephen Greep, Chief Executive, Hull & East Yorkshire NHS Trust, on the 'Wash Your Hands' campaign.

Coral Hinchliffe, Smoking Cessation Manager, on the free smoking cessation services available for businesses.

 

PROCUREMENT:

Mitch Upfold, Hull City Council, on the CompeteFor Olympic procurement portal.

Lauren Pigg, Yorkshire Gold Business Club, on how Hull's businesses can benefit from the Olympics.

 

BUSINESS SUPPORT SERVICES:

Bob Ferraby, Hull City Council, on the Grow – Local Work Guarantee project.

David Street of Construction Works on the Local Employment Charter.

Paula Gouldthorpe, Business Link Yorkshire, updated the Forum on the changes in Business Link.

 

CULTURE:

Colin Brown, Chief Executive of The Deep on 'Culture, Business & the Economy'.

John Gilbert of Eskimo Soup on the Hull Comedy Festival

Janet Reuben from VHEY on the work being done to increase tourism in Hull.

John Meehan, Editor of the Hull Daily Mail on the role of the media in the
city’s regeneration.

 

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSILITY

Paul Sewell, organiser of Business Week, spoke about his plans for the event.

Liz Barran, NSPCC Corporate Manager Yorkshire, on the new business led campaign group being set up in Hull.
