Dealing with the impact of the economic downturn has been demanding for businesses throughout the country. However, on the road to recovery, the challenge for Jobcentre Plus is to increase the number of people in work. This in turn will improve business and our local economy.
Despite the increase in people out of work and claiming benefits, lots of our customers continue to move into new jobs every day and Jobcentre Plus receives thousands of vacancies every week. However, I am aware that many businesses are still unaware of our services and the benefits of working with us.
Jobcentre Plus is here to provide you with all the support you need to recruit suitable employees for your organisations. Whether you want to fill one or many vacancies, we have a wide range of services to take the hassle out of recruitment.
Our services are free and easy to use and we will be tailored to help you fill your vacancies with the right people. We can advise you on the local labour market, plan for recruitment, advertise your vacancies and sift or match appropriate candidates. We may also be able to arrange a Work Trial, which is a risk-free way of trying out a potential employee at no cost to you.
For those of you who would rather manage your own vacancy, Employer Direct Online allows you to register, check, update and remove your vacancies online easily and conveniently. Your vacancy will appear immediately on our recruitment website which receives more than two million visits a week, as well as on our national network of touch screen terminals in every Jobcentre throughout the country. If you would like to learn more about this or placing a vacancy visit www.businesslink.gov.uk/advertiseajob
Jobcentre Plus has been working in partnership with the Federation of Small Businesses, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the British Chambers of Commerce on the design of a new, enhanced service for small businesses. This service is a package of support to assist small businesses through their recruitment processes.
February 2010, saw the introduction of a recruitment support and effective matching and screening service for small businesses and a bespoke aftercare and follow up service to suit the employers’ needs. In March 2010 we launched our telephone advice line which offers small businesses recruitment advice and support as well as signposting to other help available. This is available through Employer Direct 0845 601 2001 option 2.
