Dozens of metre-high toads will be popping up all over Hull this summer during the Larkin25 celebrations.
Philip Larkin is the nation’s most popular post-war poet and he lived and worked in Hull for 30 years.
Larkin with Toads needs you! This is your chance to sponsor a toad that will be enjoyed by thousands of people for 10 weeks from July 17th.
Local and national artists have designed the toad sculptures. From fun to funky, beautiful to bizarre, these unforgettable toads will attract thousands of visitors to Hull. London, Manchester and Liverpool have already made a big splash with their elephants, cows and penguins. Visitors poured in from near and far to experience the extravaganza, giving the local economy a massive boost. It’s time for Hull to toadily take off and put itself on the map!
These toads have soul. At the end of the 10 week programme, they’ll hop off to be auctioned, with profits going to charity. The national and international media are already buzzing about Larkin with Toads. The Guardian, Yorkshire Post, Hull Daily Mail, Look North and Radio Humberside are already celebrating this landmark event and there are plans to feature it on Radio 4.
Lots of sponsors are excited too.
