Hull's Big Society in Action

Hull charity Child Dynamix is opening its doors to local businesses in a bid to find new ways for charities and business to work together.

Child Dynamix is a local charity that works predominantly with underprivileged children and young people to improve communities within Hull.

The evening programme includes information about corporate social responsibility, an open forum for Hull's business leaders to discuss local issues, and a selection of sample dishes for guests to try donated by Rayella’s 10... A recent addition to Hull’s restaurant offering.

Managing Director Jane Stafford commented, “In the current political climate it’s more important than ever for us to form relationships with local businesses. The large majority of our work is carried out in Hull. We will be asking local business leaders to voice their opinions about issues within the local community, and how we can pool resources to make these changes a reality”.

A recent CSR event run by the One Hull Business Forum saw local charities and businesses meet together to discuss CSR activities that were mutually beneficial to local business and the local community. Ben Delaney, Project Development Officer at the One Hull Business Forum organised the event. He said “The relationship between charities and local businesses has seen a significant change in approach, traditional methods of CSR have moved from the one off donations to long-term relationships between the charity and business, resulting in more enhanced outcomes for the charitable objectives and increased benefits to the business involved.”

The event will take place on Monday 13th September at 5.30pm, the venue is 8 Marina Court, Castle Street, Hull, HU1 5TJ. It is hoped to be the first of a series of events that will form a network of relationships between Child Dynamix and local business to support sustainable and positive changes within the community.

The event aims to inform buisnesses of the benefits of developing an active corporate social responsibility programme as well as find out about the 'hidden' problems that Child Dynamix tackles as a charity.
