Strategy

ONE HULL

Hull’s overarching strategy is the Community Strategy which has been developed by the Local Strategic Partnership.

After a major consultation exercise with residents, businesses and partners from across Hull in 2005, a new Community Strategy was agreed in early 2006.

Hull Business Forum provided an unprecedented level of input into the Community Strategy.  It stressed that the city needed to focus on a smaller number of key priorities which tackled the causes not the symptoms of Hull’s problems.  The Forum produced a detailed written response to the vision in May 2005 and co-ordinated the business responses to the city-wide ‘Have Your Say in Hull’s Future’ survey in July 2005.

The new Community Strategy gives Hull and its LSP a more sharply focused strategy which the Forum and other LSP partners are committed to deliver.

Hull’s Economic Regeneration Strategy developed by Hull City Council and partners, aims to ‘grow the Hull economy, creating sustainable wealth and creating inclusive employment opportunity.’  It’s available to download here.

The other key agency in Hull’s economic strategy is Hull Citybuild, the Urban Regeneration Company which developed the City Centre Masterplan.  This exciting vision has been developed to guide investment and development to turn Hull’s aspirations of becoming a top 10 city into reality. The plan sets out how, where and when the changes are made.

At a regional level, economic development policy and funding is shaped by the Regional Economic Strategy which is lead by Yorkshire Forward on behalf of the region.  This strategy was revised in 2005 and sets out areas of activity around key themes such as ‘renaissance’ and ‘business clusters’.
